Prof. Dr. Horatiu Rotar is a primary physician in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Head of the Oral and Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery Department at Medicover Hospital Cluj and Director of the Department in the Vice-Rectorate for Residency and Postgraduate Studies at the “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca.
In 2006, he published for the first time the original method for manufacturing personalized cranial plates by casting PMMA in silicone molds. Over the years, other personalized solutions have been conceptualized, such as the Voronoi diagram design for custom-made cranial plates made of titanium, through selective laser melting or electron beam melting.
He is a Fellow of the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncological Societies and a member of various professional societies such as EACMFS, IAOO, EHNS, AO, EAO, ITI, etc. He is also an Assistant Editor at the journal Maxillofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
