Dr. Simion Bran is a University Professor at the discipline of Maxillofacial Surgery and Implantology at the “Iuliu Hațeganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca and is a Primary Physician in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Clinic of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the County Emergency Clinical Hospital in Cluj.
In 2007, he completed his PhD with research in the bone reconstruction of the facial skeleton using local biomaterials. In 2016, he became the Head of the Department of Cranio-Facial Surgery at the Emergency Hospital in Cluj-Napoca.
His expertise in implantology and orthognathic surgery has been accumulated in Germany, France, Italy, the United States, and Israel. Facial defect reconstruction through grafting techniques or autotransplantation, bone elongation, guided technique with osteodistraction, and research in bone integration comparing ceramic and titanium implants are among his latest topics of interest.
Prof. Dr. Bran coordinates the orthognathic surgery team in Cluj-Napoca, is the founder of the Transylvanian Society of Orthognathic Surgery, a member of the Romanian Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and a member of the European Association of Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also the author of over 250 publications, of which over 80 are scientific publications in ISI journals.
